Kerenhappuch Smart
« on: Tuesday 09 September 08 23:24 BST (UK) »
This sounds like a dream name but she's been hard to track down - with a variant every Census (Kerenhap, Keren, Kawen, Karren, Kareem and even Elizth!)

She was b 1814 in Rowley Regis and married James Smart.

I haven't been able to find a birth or marriage record by using Ancestry, BMD, IGI etc.

I'm also unclear about where Rowley Regis was in 1813 - Staffs? Worcester?

I also have a sneaky feeling they may have been non-conformist/Primitive Methodists - based primarily on the names that run thro the family which include Cephus, Job, Jemima, Tryphena, Perlina, Lavinia

Any pointers or suggestions?

There was a researcher a few years ago who posted on lots of forums regarding Kerenhappuch Smart but sadly it appears she has died and her research with her.

start with the earliest census that you hold.
Birth won't be on BMDs; marriage might be at  her dates.

When, where, how old and who with. (name &  age &birthplace)

Hi

To search for a birth/marriage in parish records you would need to know her maiden name which may be a lot more common than her christian name.

Do you have a copy of one of the childrens birth certs which will have that info

Thanks Carol,

I don't have a certificate of any of her children yet (I'm trying only to spend where I've exhausted other possibilties - hard times and all that)

I hoped I might be able to find her without a surname (with a lot of trawling) as her given name is unusual.
