Bunkle & Preston Parish 1665-1690
« on: Wednesday 10 September 08 20:37 BST (UK) »
I have a copy of the Session book of Bunkle & Preston Parish for the above dates. It includes MI's as well as marriages and baptisms. I would be willing to do look ups. Please include as much info as you have.

Any information on Aitken/Aitkin/Atkin and Blackader/Blackadder would be appreciated.

There is no mention of Blackadder in the book - they would have been in Edrom or Chirnside at the time. Here is the only info that I've been able to extract:

Bunkle inscriptions - Here lyes the body of John Aitken, indueller [ indweller] in Lintlau [Lintlaw], who died the 18 of June 1776, aged 63 years.
[on the other side] Also the body of John Aitken, son to John Aitken, wright in Ovenden, who died the 9 of October 1775.

There is no other mention of Aitken - they do no appear in the Session record, marriage or baptisms.

Thanks for looking, Betty.  The Aitkens could be mine but, as yet, I have not made the 'fix'.

There is no mention in the book except the Mi which is already in the Cargill pre 1855 inscriptions. If you don't have these I can post them.

Dear Betty

I am fairly new to family history and would be grateful for any information available.

Would you be able to email the Mi or use letter post it?

Dear Betty, Thank you for your kind offer....I am seeking the birth of Adam SLIGH who was supposed to be born in Bunkle around 1687; also any death date that appears to be tied in to him...my Slighs were in Preston and Bunkle for quite a few years following Adam being there. Any information will be greatly appreciated! Thank you kindly! Patricia "Pat" Hughes
