20th Century GRAY in Leeds
« on: Sunday 14 September 08 03:49 BST (UK) »
It's a desperate move, I know, such a common name, but ... is anyone related to (or knows of) the following family:

William Alfred GRAY, born Bradford, 1897, married Alice Mary LOCKWOOD, 1925.

In 1930 they were in Hull, where their first(?) child, George was born, but by 1934 they were living at 53 Recreation Terrace, Leeds, as William was the informant on the death certificate of his grandmother (my great grandmother), Sarah BOYLE.

Although my one surviving uncle remembers attending Sarah Boyle's funeral, he has no recollection of the Grays, even though William was his cousin!

Here's hoping ....

No replies in a year - which is about the number I was honestly expecting!  However, in case this rings any bells, I now know the following additional information:

1. William Alfred GRAY married Alice Lockwood in 1925, and they had at least two children: George W., and Alice M., both born Hull

2. His brother, Douglas GRAY probably married Mabel McCallum in 1922 (certificate awaited for confirmation), and they had at least one child, Donald A., born Huddersfield

3. Brother Cyril GRAY probably married Doris Burnell in 1923 (certificate awaited for confirmation), and they had at least 3 children: Cyril J., Olwyn, and Shirley.

As some of these individuals may still be alive, I would welcome any information by PM.

Cheers
Tim

Tim

Hi, we were in contact some years ago on our Baldwin ancestors in Leeds but unfortunately I lost your email address in subsequent years. It's Jo...please do get back in touch.  Looking forward to hearing from you and hope you've had more breakthroughs with your research than I have had :)

Jo, Have you made contact yet or would you like me to send a PM to Tim on your behalf and ask him to email you?

AS a newbie-and welcome to rootschat- you can't send PMs until you've made three posts.

Let me know here if I can help.
