Manlake Deanery Marriage Index 1754- 1812
« on: Sunday 14 September 08 17:37 BST (UK) »
Hello folks

If anyone has access to the Manlake Deanery Marriage Index 1754-1812 I would appreciate a lookup for the marriage of:

Thomas Hicks at Appleby in 1777

I need to know did he marry Mary Shepherd or Mary Sheppard? or any other spelling that it may show.

Many thanks

I was looking at some registers the other day and, well after 1752 and the calendar change, one vicar was still starting his "register year" at Lady Day (25 March) rather than 1 January.  I wonder if this could account for the discrepancy in date?
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Many thanks Col & GeoffE

A number of distant relations also reasearching the Lincolnshire Hicks family have the name as  Shepherd but an extracted LDS record shows the name as Sheppard and the wedding as 2nd March 1777.

A little more digging is required me thinks.  ::)
