Sheppey brickmakers

Does anyone know if they still make bricks on the Isle of Sheppey?

There seems to be 2 very large brick makers just across the water in Sittingbourne (Ibstock and Wienerberger) but not sure about Sheppey - can't find anything straight away.

Hi BK,
         We used to have many brickfields in Sittingbourne and surrounding Villages but I have never heard of any on Sheppey.(There was a cement works at Elmley for a while in the mid 1800.s )If you google Brickfields Sittingbourne you will find loads of info.most of London was built in the late 19th century and early 20th. with Sittingbourne bricks One of the biggest local makers was George Smeed of the famous Smeed Dean  "SD" brick .
There are  still a few brickfields surviving but mainly owned by obscure outside invest ment co,s with strange names. The old family names like Smeeds ,Deans, Burleys ,Wills and Packham ,Eastwoods etc have long since dissapeared.
