WALTON - Illingworth - 1730
« on: Wednesday 24 September 08 03:19 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I have an Isaac WALTON, christened 1730 in Illingworth.
The IGI has a Bishops Transcript of his christening but it only has the father's name, Abraham.
I have other biblical names in this line born Illingworth and Halifax.
However there are two marriages for an Abraham in that area at that time.
Without a mother's name, is there any way I can find out which marriage of Abraham is the correct one?
I can't find any parish records for Halifax or Illingworth at that time.
Any help much appreciated thanks.
Leonie.

Could Abraham be one man who married twice? Are there any burials in the Bishop's Transcripts for the wives? This occurred to me after reading your post.

Hi Daren, this also occurred to me, but I can't find any parish records.
The IGI doesn't have any burials.
Maybe I should post on the York board for a look-up.

But the BT's must exist somewhere, as per the entry on the IGI.

As I just said "over there" I found an Isaac in St Paul graveyard in Halifax, But he's about 90 years later. There are several Isaacs down the line, but not my direct line. I'll fit him in somewhere.  :D
I came across Ovenden, is was in GenUK I think. I'll go look some more tomorrow. Only fit for the YTG at this hour.  ;D

Added; Our local LDS centre has closed. So I have to wait for my next family history society visit. It's a very long process going through them, takes weeks. The internet has spoiled me. ::)

Just had a quick look on the familysearch website, and found the following:
Illingworth Chapel parish registers, two film numbers: 1542212 & 1542278.
I think the dates listed for the first one would interest you more.
Good luck with your search, and let us know how you get on.
