Joseph wilson born Darlington 1806/1808

I am trying to trace records relating to a Joseph Wilson who was born 1806/1808 in Darlington and subsequently moved to London and became a cigar manufacturer in the East End of London - he went into partnership with one of my relatives, hence my quest! I have found him in 1851 living at 6 Winkworth Place Hoxton as head of the household, with John Atkins, age 30-commercial traveller - and 3 young apprentice boys aged 16,17&18 - 2 of them born in London and 1 born in Norwich.
Any details of Joseph Wilson prior to 1851 would be really helpful! I am afraid I have no other clues at present!
