Ahh! That explains why you seem to be awake the same hours as me!

Another puzzle, just presented by my cousin who has been eavesdropping on this thread, is the fact that Charles Henry's sons were high church - C of E as was my Grandfather, his Grandson and yet he was buried in the unconsecrated part of the cemetery! ??? I wonder if anyone might know why that was the case?

It is possible that as the cemetery expanded sections were brought into use before they were consecrated and the consecration ceremony would have taken place later. I am told that this did happen with the larger municipal cemeteries.
I would have thought though that the cemetery legers would have been brought up to date with the consecration.  ???

Hi Dave,

Thanks Dave!  :D  That would certainly be a good explanation, but I know that he was buried in the same grave as his Granddaughter, Ethel who died in 1912.  You would think that the ground would been consecrated by 1927 if that was the case here wouldn't you?

I googled "The Park" where my Gt Gt Grandfather died and it seems like it was a terrible place, I'm wondering why he would have been put there when he had children still alive as well  ???

Thanks Dave, this is a big help.  Apparently my 2x Gt Grandfather is in an unmarked grave in section J and so this will at least give me a general direction to look in when I return to England next year.

Thanks to everyone involved in helping me with this query.  I now have wonderful photos of the grave site and photos the original registry of the deaths for Charles Henry and Ethel and also information and photos of the memorial garden for the cremation of my Grandparents and their death notices.

Thanks to every RootChatter for your incredibly generous sharing of information and special thanks to Sarah for battling the wind and rain at Scholemoor Cemetery.  I am so grateful to you all.
