2 listed in IGI (www.familysearch.org):
William Blayney born 1787 Rathdrum Co. Wicklow (submitted)
and
William Blyney born 15 Mar.1879 Co. Wicklow, son of William & Mary (Kinshelagh)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Christopher and Aghadowney

thanks so much for the info, it gives me a starting point, I dont know how I missed the LDS ones ???  I know my relatives parents were farmers so the Griffiths could also be quite promising.  Never done Wicklow before so the area is all new to me.  Thanks again

Hello Carol,

Umrygar is spelt as Umrigar in Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, 1837
See Dr Jane Lyons' website www.from-ireland.net/lewis/wex/carnew.htm

Hello Christopher

thanks again, this looks even more promising as the ancestor I am searching is Robert Blaney  and I see one  mentioned in the list on the site.  I suppose I should be grateful that there are not many Blaneys to sort out there !
