Married by Banns - Morris & Moore 1911 (COMPLETED)
« on: Thursday 02 October 08 13:58 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to establish if any further information will be available if a marriage was by Banns.

I have a marriage certificate for Frederick Morris and Nellie May Moore married at Holy Trinity in Hinckley on 3rd July 1911, stating a marriage by Banns.

I am having trouble locating Frederick Morris on the 1891 Census as i suspect he may originally have come from Nuneaton.  Would any further information be available anywhere else in respect of this marriage to help me along the way?

Thanks in advance

TB

You will find this a good site to do searches.

http://www.freebmd.org.uk

scroll down and click on search
Entering known information : Frederick Morris & Nellie May Moore
married 1911 gives a confirmed Marriage  Hinckley Vol 7a, page 135
Doing a search on Nellie May Moore between 1885-1895
gives only one fit    Birth  Distict : Hinckley vol 7a, page 49
Doing a search on Frederick Morris gives 9 options
so you need to be more tighter on the age range to select
if you have the marriage cert it should give the spouse's age

Thanks John

I have that information and there is a possible Fred/Frederick Morris born to coincide with the suggested birth year in Nuneaton - along with several other possibilities!  I just need to tie Nellie May of Hinckley and Frederick (Fred) of Nuneaton together.

Whilst its a strong possibility the connection at present is purely coincidental!  I am therefore just trying to establish if any other documentation may exist in respect f the marriage - for example didn't such matters have to be read out in church beforehand, or perhaps it was required to be publicised in the press?

Its a long shot but who knows!  Otherwise i may have to wait until the 1911 census, which i believe was recorded 3 months before they were married and therefore i am worried i still will not be able to tie them together!

Regards

TB

If you have/get the marriage cert it should show the name of Fredirick's father.

You can then do a search via the appropriate census to tie in that name with a son Frederick.
Ancestry.com are offering 'a 2 weeks FREE trial' at moment so if you register you then can access all the local / likely district census data.

The 1911 Census sorted this for me and confirmed my research to be correct!
