Jersey Marriage Lookup please
« on: Wednesday 08 October 08 22:37 BST (UK) »
Hi all
I'm trying to trace marriages of two sisters which I believe took place in Jersey:
Both were daughters of Francis Freshfield Reynolds and Mary Hill.
Mary Jane Reynolds to George Henry, in approximately 1870, possibly in St. Brelade?
Sarah Anna Maria Reynolds to Joseph Burt, in approximately 1880.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Andy Smith (gt.gt.grandson of Mary Jane)

Hi Andy

No luck I'm afraid.

There was certainly no entry in any Parish for SAMR. There was one for MJR (All Saints Church, St Helier, Sept 1874 to Jun 1907, page 42), but there is no George Henry on the same page.

Hi Stewart

many thanks for trying, these are a bit of a mystery- I have already checked all available Guernsey records for them both, but with no success. George and Mary were both born in St. Brelade as far as I can tell from census results, but moved to Guernsey between the births of their fourth and fifth children. Joseph came from Swanage, Dorset and Sarah was born I believe in St. Aubin, but their children were born in Guernsey. I know the Reynolds come from a Quaker background and there may therefore be some non-conformist connection?

I wonder what the entry for MJR might be? Rather intriguing......

    Thanks again
