Canadian Immigration Images
« on: Thursday 09 October 08 18:04 BST (UK) »
Hello

I have been advised that my great-great-great uncle George Macdonald Henderson arrived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from Scotland with his brother Henry, having travelled together on the Mongolian.  Apparently the vessel sailed directly from Glasgow, Scotland and arrived in Montreal on 31st May 1907.

I was wondering if anyone might know of any way that I could get sight of the actual immigration record for their arrival.  Also, I need to find my great-great-great aunt who I think emigrated a few years later, also to Canada.  Unfortunately I don't have an exact date, or a vessel name.

TIA.

Hi Ian,

The passenger lists are free to view at Library and Archives Canada.

Here is a link to the Mongolian passenger lists for that date.

Hi Karen

My gg aunt's name was Erodah Henderson.  You would think that with a first name like that one, she'd be easy to find wouldn't you?

Hi Ian,

Looks like she came to Canada October 15, 1912 aboard the Pretorian to be married to F. Dunn/Dann? , farmer and headed to Calgary, Alberta.  She is listed as a school teacher from Scotland.

Hi Karen

Thanks very much for that.  It sounds accurate, since she married Frederick Dann - I've been contacted by their grandson but he hasn't been able to shed any light on how she arrived in Canada.

Thanks very much for getting me this - how on earth did you find it?

Ian
