« on: Friday 10 October 08 01:12 BST (UK) »
Hi, would someone with the access to northumberland parish records Hexham or a parish very close to it, would be able to lookup a marriage between Thomas Hindmarch (hindmarsh) and Elizabeth Wick between 1802-1805. Thomas was born at Hexham. nothing on igi for marriage so i have hit a brick wall. if anyone with time and access i would greatly appreciate their time.  thankyou. :)

 Linda,

are you targeting Hexham church records for the marriage because Thomas was born in Hexham ?

Where was Elizabeth born ?

Anyway to find or not find his marriage in Hexham, I journeyed to Northumberland County Record Office (Woodhorn) at great expense in very  stormy weather.

Well not quite true, but I did look at the Hexham marriage index 1540-1837... on GenUKI web site.... www,genuki.org.uk    The index is in date order rather than surname alpha order.... I could not see your couple... but better look yourself !

Linda,

Lots of Norfolk folk came to the north-east of England- but many came from agricultural backgorunds to find work in the coal mines.
Hexham was slightly outside of the main coalfield area.

Do you know where their first child was born ?

hi michael,   i know thomas hindmarch moved to gateshead. i don't know where their first daughter was born, their 2nd and the rest of their family were born in gateshead. i have looked through the bishop's trans. from 1806 back to 1800 as their  second daughter was born in 1806 (states 2nd daughter) in gateshead. i don't know where the first was born or where thomas and eliz. married. thankyou for your time in trying to help me. i have looked through the genuki were possible they show marriages in durham and northumberland, and the joiner marr. index  for wick and hindmarch for the counties he covers and nothing came up. once again thankyou i appreciate your time. :)
