1911 Census Canada
« on: Monday 13 October 08 16:52 BST (UK) »
I am looking for a Charles Ludford born 1856 in Leire Leicestershire. I have a C Ludford on the vessel Canada arriving 5th May 1904 aged 48, single and destination Calgary. Would it be possible for someone to look on the 1911 census and give me the details of that Charles Ludford and also is it possible to see if he married whilst in Canada and whether or not he died there. I have him on the 1901 England census, but he disappears after that and I can find no further trace of him. Many thanks.

It looks like he was still in Calgary in 1911, incorrectly transcribed as Ludforg:

He was still single, working in a Hide Warehouse and I think his occupation says Hideman.  The birth date and immigration date match closely with what you have already uncovered.  Alberta Vital Statistics records are not available online so if he remained in Calgary it will be difficult to find any additional information on him.  We also have stricter privacy laws in Canada which restrict access to most BMD records to 75 -100 years.

Hope this helps,

Many thanks to both of you for the information. At least I now know why I can't find him in England.
