Hi Shirley

From St Mary Putney marriage register

Edward Dalton bachelor of this parish
and Sarah Banks of this parish (no status)
were married in this church by Banns
this 11th day of September in the year 1826
by me Isaac Fidler
This marriage was solumnized between us
Edward Dalton (signed his name)
Sarah Banks (signed her name)
in the presence of
Mercy Cogger (signed her name)

Hi Dawn thanks for that. they were both school teachers, Sarah was definitely from Merton Surrey. Edward died in 1838 so no chance to get him on a census for info. Daltons too were from Merton but a link with the city of London.

thanks again

St Mary's is the church just a couple of inches off Putney Bridge  ;D

Lots of history, was the headquarters for Cromwell at one time in the English Civil War.

http://www.allsaintsputney.co.uk/

is the website for Putney parish of St Mary and All Saints.
