Date and tidy up for great grandmother.

I think this is my great grandmother, 1845 - 1883. Is it a photograph?
It has a tracing paper like cover on top of cardboard, fraying at the edges.
Thanks for any help.

This looks like someone has traced the head from the photo & then sketched in the body.As you can see it is out of proportion.
Should look like the 2nd. one.
