I'll keep ferreting around, Rose, but I'm trying to catch up with other demands on my time  ::)

I have a large folder and a ring-binder folder with masses of notes on the Parishes. I haven't looked at them for at least 5 years,  so there might well be things in there that might through some light on things.

Given that Elizabeth was one of the witnesses at the wedding, I'm sure that there must be some kind of kinship. And do I recall that John was a witness at on e of the other marriages  :-\

The James and Ann look interesting - worth following them up on the 1851.

I'll get back to you as soon as I find anything more.

Thank you Gadget.  Sorry to be so long getting back - haven't had chance until now - but any pointers to John Parrish's parentage that you can find in your folder will be much appreciated.  Did you find all your info from Parish Registers?  If so I will be very impressed - by the time I got back to around the birth date of John I couldn't read them!

Hello I'm researching the Parrishes for a family history on John Prescott and would be interested in making contact as Coming Home will be featuring his Welsh family and I'm trying to contact people who know of the family or have stories about them. Once the programmes made I'll be free to share any information I have too.

Thank You and Kind Regards

This may be of some relevance

My gt-gt-gt-grandfather Thomas EDWARDS, a farmer from Llanforda, near Oswestry, married Elizabeth LLOYD from Chirk in 1830. The Lloyds were wealthy Denbighshire landowners who also had significant holdings in Llanforda.

On the 1841 census entry for Llanforda, Phoebe PARRISH is listed as a domestic servant at the Edwards farm. She is 45, the same age as Elizabeth, so it could be that she is from the Chirk Parrish clan

Hi
I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me
I have traced my Parrish branch back to 1803/5 when William  parrish was born in Wombridge Shropshire and then hit what I think is an insurmountable problem.
Williams records show his parents as Thomas Parish and Ann... Without a surname I really feel I'm stumped. Ive seen the original entry at Shrewsbury Records Office and it also just says Ann
I've looked around the area/time I think Thomas and Ann may have been married and come up with

1 . Thomas and Ann Howell m Shrewsbury 1794 (this only has one 'r' on pallots marriage on ancestry
2.  Thomas and Ann HADLEY 1 11. 1790 Halesowen Worcester. 1 'r' on igi

3.  Thomas and Ann HUGHES 17.1.1795 Chirk
This Thomas was b 1773 and has 2 'r' on the igi
I can't find any siblings for my William at all over several years with parents Thomas and Ann
It's really frustrating to think I can't trace any further😡
Thanks

Hi

I wouldn't worry about the spelling - Par(r)ish seems to have been spelled in both ways by the same people/parish clerks!

My Thomas Par(r)ish and Ann Jones married in Chirk in 1815. This Thomas was born in 1790, Chirk and he was the son of William Par(r)ish (b. Madeley) and Mary Hughes (married Chirk in 1789).

I think that the Thomas Parrish who married Ann Hughes in Chirk , was William's brother - both born Madeley. I'd have to check my records which are in store in Scotland.

It would seem that your line is one of the others.
