Parents and siblings of Thomas Blair b1848
« on: Saturday 18 October 08 11:08 BST (UK) »
I do not have access to the 1851 census and wonder whether some kind person could look up the above, for his parents and siblings. The 1891 census, says that he was born in Cowton, Yorkshire. Google suggests that this is North Yorkshire. Thomas Blair subsequently moved to Co. Durham and was there in 1891 with his wife Dorothy and 8 children!

you've not got his marriage cert then ? (Showing his Dad's name etc)

 :)

PS. His PoB in 1891 looks like CowLon ? wonder if this is really Cowlam (ERY) ?

1901 says Richmond, which is the Regn District for North Cowton ...  1881 deffo Cowton, so with the find shown in 1851 looks QED !

I think it reads Downham.  Downham is now in Lancashire - fairly close to the present day boundary between Lancs and Yorks.

PS    No apol. necessary Mariac - I must learn to get quicker  ;D
