Woburn lookup please, Partridge

I believe I have an ancestor Catherine Partridge of Woburn, Beds. who married William Dolton 1697, Woburn  and they produced my 6*greatgrandfather WILLIAM DOLETON bap 1701 Woburn.

For Catherine Partridge's birth, all I have is, from IGI, a baptism in 1651 @ Woburn.  If that is the same person, she would be about 46 at wedding and 50 for giving birth.  Not impossible but rather dubious.

So is there someone with access to Woburn records who could kindly check if the 1651 entry is correct ( I would be delighted if it were a misprint for, say, 1671)  Or, are there any other baptisms for a Catherine Partridge around 1660-1680 which might be more likely candidates.

I checked the Woburn PRs this morning. In the index, while the Partridge name exists in its own right, it also states to see Littlepage alias Partridge.

So there is a baptism on 10 Jan 1652 of Cath, daughter of Wm Littlepage.

There are no Catherine Littlepage or Partridge baptisms in those later years

The marriage on 30 Sept 1697 just names her as Partridge.

There is a burial of Cath wife of Wm Doultin on 11 Jun 1711

Her father's burial is on 4 Mar 1654 as Wm Littlepage alias Partridge.

Thank you very much John for this lookup.  I did not have those burials before.  I believe the 1654 burial might be her grandfather who was also William.  I will have to check this.

It leaves me wondering whether this Catherine was really one person although you have checked there is no evidence otherwise in this parish.  It is just that she was rather late getting married and producing a child.

   Hi Ian ......

  There is  a Katherine Partridge b Leighton Buzzard 1674 so in the right area. I cannot see her marrying in Leighton but haven't got burials to check if this one died young.

  Leighton Buzzard is not far and Woburn would have attracted workers to the estate so she could be a possible.

  Wont be in Leighton this week as half term and I ve got a stinking cold but will check when I get a chance.

Thank you Tazzie.  That birth is more consistent with marriage in 1697.  It is perhaps more likely that someone moved locally rather than that they married  very late.  As you say an early death record would decide it.

I hope your cold will soon get better.  i understand about half term, but in my case it is with grandchildren!

  Hi Ian.....

  Checked burials for All Saints Leighton Buzzard and nothing for Katherine / Catherine Partridge up to 1700.

 Found two... Rob. son of Robert in 1680
                 & Mary dau of Thos in 1695.

 So could be your lady.

First I want to thank you for these lookups.  I still cannot be certain of the following conjectures but I am beginning to think it is more likely that the Catherine who married William Dolton @ Woburn 1701 was Katherine born 1674 @ LB.   Perhaps her father was Thomas P born 1634 Woburn and mother Mary Kimbar.  My guess is that this Thomas had a brother William P  born 1637.  Unless he was old at baptism he would be too young to be the father of the other Catherine 1652.

If this sounds muddled it is because I have not sorted it all out yet but I did not want to delay thanking you till I have!
