Visiting PRONI
« on: Monday 20 October 08 21:45 BST (UK) »
I hope to make a trip to Belfast within the next couple of months and if things go as planned I should be able to spare some time to visit PRONI.

I have read their web site and the protocols etc are similar to those in Edinburgh but has anyone any advice ...

Best day to go,any bookings needed etc.

hi,
i would say go as early as possible in the morning, time flies by really quickly :) it did seem a lot busier in the afternoon and you have a better chance of getting in the carpark in the morning if you're driving.

We visited there last month.  The staff were very helpful.  If you are going by bus get off by the Kings Hall - there is quite a long walk down Balmoral Avenue as it's about half way along!
Hope you have as succesful a visit as we did.  I hope to go again maybe when they have moved.

There are two bus routes from the City centre at Donegall Square East ... either the Lisburn Road (Metro route 9) or Malone Road (Metro route '8'). In each case let the driver know that you want Balmoral Avenue and he'll let you off at the nearest stop. You can also get a train to Balmoral Halt which is the nearest to the King's Hall. A taxi from Botanic Avenue is roughly £5. If you're coming from the ranks near Great Victoria Street or Glengall Street ask the driver how much he'll charge. Public Hire cabs use a meter.
