Snell
« on: Tuesday 21 October 08 07:27 BST (UK) »
Hello ,
I have just been told that a sister of my great gran went to Canada and married a William or Thomas Snell and gave birth to a child but she died doing it . Her name was Sarah Snell { nee Prout } and I wondered if it was possible to find their marriage , her death and possibly the birth of the child. I suspect it was after 1913 as I think she went out to see her sister in Toronto .
Any help appreciated very much .
Regards
Alan

Any idea how old she was and when she might have gone to Canada? Youn can search 1911 Canadian census if she was there and that will give you an idea of where she might have lived.

Hello Sarah Barnes Prout was born 1883 in Devon  and her sister Alice Jane Prout married Charles Henry Ley  and went out to Quebec in 1913 and settled in Toronto . I suspect Sarah went out to them later but do not know how long after .
Thanks for reply .
Alan

See that an Alice Ley (b.c1886) arrived 1913 in Quebec from Bristol but can't see any sign of Sarah Prout on www.findmypast.com. There's one Sarah Prout on www.ellisisland.org b.c1883 arriving in N.Y. from Liverpool in 1921 but she's going to join her husband Jealey Prout.
Maybe someone else will be able to spot her leaving U.K. or in Canada.
