Jame Goldie.
« on: Wednesday 22 October 08 16:06 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information about James Goldie, b.Oct,8,1846, Kilwinning, son of Robert Goldie and Jean Fulton.
The last I have of him was on the 1871 census, age 26, where he is living with his mother and step-father Samuel Bonner in Auchinlleck. Tried looking for marriages, found 2 but unfortunately weren,t the right James, more credits down the drain.
Wonder if any one out there can help me find him.
Mary.

Hello Mary,

Although your James Goldie, was born 8/0ct/1846. i dont think his parents Robert Goldie, and Jean Fulton, were married.

Jean Fulton, then had a child William Brydon, 14/April/1849. to father Thomas Brydon, all this in Kilwinning, Ayr.

By the 1851. census. in Kilwinning, Jean Fulton, is living with her widowed Grandmother Isobel Miller, also her sister Ann Fulton, and the two boys James Goldie, and William Brydon.

By 1861. Jean, is in Kilwinning, with her new husband Samuel Bonner,

Bonner Samuel, age 37 years, born Govan,
Bonner Jane, age 34 years, born Kilwinning,
Bonner James, age 15 years, born Kilwinning,
Bonner William, age 12 years, born Kilwinning.

Jane/Jean, has trimmed quite a few years of her age in 1861, and the children called Bonner, cannot possibly be Samuel Bonner's, children.

It would be quite interesting to see what the births of James Goldie, and William Brydon, state on their birth certificates as regarding their rank of birth, because i dont think Jean Fulton, was married to either of the fathers.

Regards,
Jonn.

Hi John.
No I dont think Jean was married either to Goldie or Brydon, i saw there births and both were the natural born son, of their respective fathers.
I have the census for 1861 from SP and they,re both called step-sons. On the 1871 James calls himself Goldie, but is named as a son. Had also seen the 1851 census before but it was my search for another person all to-gether that put me on the track of Goldie and his brother. I saw his name on the 1871 census and remembered seeing it once before, which was on the 1851 census.
I,m interested in finding anything about James Goldie and William Brydon and their decendents, as Jean Fulton was my ggrandmother, Mary Craig,m.s. Fulton, older sister.
Mary Craig died after giving birth to her 10th child and Jean and Samuel Bonner took the child into their care. Unfortunatly the child also died.
Hoping that someone will be able to help me find the decendents of both James Goldie and William Brydon.
Mary
