If you go to www.gov.bc.ca/genealogy this brings up the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency which tells you how to order a copy. Have you also checked for the death on that website?
Good luck.

I'm having difficulty with that link. I've managed to get this link but is there a search facility?

Hello Saxonw :)

Here is another link for you to try.

http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/textual/governmt/vstats/v_events.htm#indexes

Also, if you are near a Family History Center, you should also be able to order records through the center for much less cost than directly from the website.

Hi Saxonw,

There are several RCs in BC that are willing to do lookups of the BMD registrations so if you post the details on which ones you are looking for, one of us will volunteer to check the registration.  They are available on microfilm at several libraries and are free to view.  We can either transcribe the details or take a photocopy and email it to you.  It should save you a fair bit of money!

Thank you. I've lost a couple of brothers who rumour had it went to the Klondike but all points seem to head to British Columbia.  Can you tell me what would be available on a BC marriage certificate and  death certificates eg father's names or anything like that?  There is  a possibility one of them got married out there from the list I have seen. Also it may be one died very quickly after leaving the uK (if I could find his departure that would bea great help but I know its within  a five month window in late 1897) and also what name he travelled under. Every other member of the family going to Canada has changed their name. Luckily their paths all crossed and one reverted to his own name and luckily put his town of birth when crossing to the States  otherwise  I would still be none the wiser!

The registrations vary over the years as different forms were used but the marriages and deaths all include the parents names and birthplaces.  The marriages also include age, birthplace, occupation, residence and whether they could read and write.  The death registrations contain the most information including birth date, immigration dates, spouse's name, place of burial and a next of kin.  If the person was known by another name, this is often noted on the death registration.

We have limited years available but luckily we make up for it in detail!

Well you may be finding out shortly why I'm interested in this bunch. Fundamentally  for the following:

Marriages:

Arthur Blundell to Mary Shutly. Greenwood  17 Jun 1914

Reg No   1914-09-142018       GSU No:    1983977 (B11384 )

Louis William Blundell to Ida Kathleen Geddis- Vancouver  12. Mar.1914

Reg. No:1914-09-074882       : GSU No 1983706 (B11378  )

Joseph Blundell to  Mabel Grace Snider  27 Oct 1906 Nanaimo

Reg No:1906-09-096675  GSU:1983708  (B11380)

William T Blundell to Florence Smith Vancouver 12 Mar 1914

Re No  1914-09-074926      GSU No 1983706 (B11378 )

Of those the highest priority would be Arthur and Joseph: The rest I suspect i need to know to discard.

Deaths:

Richard Blundell aged 69  Nelson: 19 Jan 1926

Reg No: 1926-09-376421    B13130   (GSU  1927349)

Joseph Blundell  3 Mar 1946 aged 73

Reg. No: 1946-09-004039

B13190   (GSU  2032422)

These are the most important that spring to mind but I would look at most Blundells born between 1860 and 1900 : not sure how many of them are mine. I would certainly like to see the matching death for Arthur:
