McGuire, Barret

I wonder if someone can help me please. trying to find info on McGuire and Barret. i can't find where in Ireland they come from. how do i find out please.
Mary McGuire Married Michael Barret I was told it was in Ireland. have no dates.
Helen Barret, Married John Munro in Selkirk in 1890. she was born in Selkirk
On the CENSUS 1881 Mary Barret Widow 44 F Ireland. Helen U 17 Selkirk.
don't know when Michael Barret died.

Scottish civil records are far better than Irish ones. IGI shows 2 children born in Selkirk: Robert (1860) and Helen (1863). Earlier is a daughter Bridget born Stow, Midlothian in 1856.
Any of the children's birth certificates should list the date and place of the parents' marriage. You may fid that the marriage actually took place in Scotland and would then be able to view that certificate giving you more family details.

something to keep in mind is the spelling of the surname. i have maguires but in some resources it is spelt mcguire, so the spelling can change.
