James Powis

I'm tracing the family tree along my Mothers fathers side and have hit a brick wall. I have no more information about my g.g.g.g grandfather James Powis who I believe (as all decendents) was still living in staffordshire. I do not have information on his date of birth but based on marriage date I'd guess around 1830-1840

He was married on 6th February 1866 to Emily Freeman
(may have been  at st Marys church Bucknall as it seems to be the norm in the family line)

from this marriage they had children:

Emily May Powis b. 24 June 1880
Samual Freeman Powis 18 July 1868
Rose Sophia Powis never married (Died 21st August 1952)
William Henry Powis b. 1867 died 27 Jul 1936 he also never married
Emily Powis died 1942

Anyone who can help me go beyond 1866 or may have a possible link on our tree please drop me a line

I am also looking for Powis in Staffordshire.  I am looking for Louisa Powis born about 1825.  Her age in census varies enormously and I haven't found her in the 1841.  She married Benjamin Grocutt and had Thomas, Benjamin, Isaiah, Isaac, Catherine, Elizabeth.  Thomas, the oldest was born in 1846.  I have found a possible marriage in Dec 1840 on the BMD but no spouse.  Have also found a possible baptism in 1821 on the IGI, parents Richard and Priscilla, sibling Veni, Elizabeth and Catherine.

Any other information very gratefully received!

I have not been on here for a while and have just seen this topic. How's it going Soozibloor? Did you get any answers? James Powis was my husband's G Grandpa. The photo you have is one of ours. The girl standing between James and Emily is my husband's grandma, Elizabeth. He, like many others in the family has 'Freeman' as one of his names. If I can help, let me know

I found James and Emilys grave.  My great grandad is Bob who is on the right of this photo.  I also found James' Dads grave in Wellington as well as links to a police officer in Liverpool
