Incoming Passenger List Look Up Please
« on: Saturday 25 October 08 10:21 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Would someone with ancestry world membership be kind enough to look for my GGG grandfathers return to UK from USA.

I think it was in early 1901 because he isn't on the 1901 UK census but died in West Yorkshire in June 1901.

Any information appreciated but in particular if he was travelling with anyone else especially any other Porritts as I have lots of them going out to USA but then disappearing.

Have added another post below before I realised I could edit this one. His name was Noble Porritt born 1839 in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Helen

Hi again Helen :)

Just modified my reply as I had left the date of arrival off. :-[

Also his date of birth seems to differ from the one you gave...but with a name like his .....,  it has to be him.........doesn't it ???

Hi Annie and thanks for your post.

I am sure it is him. As you say the name is rare.

Were there any other Porritts with him??

Thanks again

Helen

Hi again Annie

Don't suppose you could look up another Porritt??

This time its Thomas Porritt (brother of Noble). He went to USA in 1864. I think I have him on 1870 US census and he is back in UK by 1881 census so assume he travelled back between 1870 and 1881.

May have had wife Martha with him (although she possibly died in USA).

Thanks

Helen
