I am trying to find anyone who could help me with two marriages involving JOHN MUSGRAVE in 1832, and JOHN CHILD in 1835, both of whom married a LYDIA RUSSOM at St.Peters Church, Leeds. The marriages took place after banns and both parties in each case were referred to as Bachelor and Spinster. The occupations were also the same.
From my research it appears that these two men are one and the same, and Leeds Archives are as mystified as I am by it all! There is no death record between 1832 and 1835 for a John Musgrave in the Leeds area who could be the one in my tree. I can also find only one Lydia Russom b.1811 in Leeds.
The children of John and Lydia took on the Musgrave name as either a middle or surname. My g.g.grandmother was referred to on her dauther's b.cert as Ann Elizabeth Child formerly Musgrave. She was the third child born in 1837.
Lydia Child died in 1874 age 63 - wife of John Child.
The 1881 Census shows John as "John Musgrave Child" and I believe he died in 1893 age 84 - am awaiting copy of d.cert.
I have lots of detail about the family and they all seem to interconnect, but I wondered if anyone might be able to throw some light on these two marriages.
