STANNARDS
« on: Sunday 26 October 08 13:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi all i wondered if anyone could help me with my elusive gt gt gt grandfather, here what i have on him,he was a coppersmith
In 1841 he lived in Austin st Ipswich with his wife susannah and their children ,both say born in the county
1851 also living Ipswich
ater that he gets harder to track down in 1861 hes still in ipswich says he married but no susannah with him, cant find a death or anything elseon her although there is another susannah stannard in the same area whos not her.
1871 hes with his daughter Susannah Sage (28) in Middlesex he then says hes born in middlesex
then after that i think he died ipswich 1879 but not definate,i found a marriage for a thomas stannard and susannah stannard ips st mary 1830,but i dont think this is my thomas and susannah as i said there is another couple by the same names in the same area.
Their first child Jospeh bn c 1830 baptised 28 Nov 1833 Ipswich St Peter.
On all censues i find him he says born Ips apart from 1871 when hes in middlesex.
any help on this is much appreciated as i'mpretty stumped, lol.

The marriage you found is the only one what fits on the Suffolk marriage index and ties in nicely with the eldest childs age on the 1841 census.

Where are the other Thomas and Susanna, as I can only see one couple in Ipswich.

I only see one other couple with the same names, in 1841, and they are in Stanningfield and aged 60 and 55.

If they were married in Suffolk, then yes it must be them. Then again theres always the possibility they were married elsewhere in the country. :-\

Well I think going by 1841 census her age is put at 30, as ages were rounded down, she could have been 30 - 34, so putting her birth year at about 1807ish.  The 1851 age is obviously wrong.
