Tracing ancestors pre 1787

I had such a brilliant response to my previous post 'Where Born' *that I feel sure someone out there will be able to help me further.

I would like to trace Colin Buchan the father of Charles Buchan. Charles was born 9/9/1787and married Elizabeth Goldfinch.
