1871 lookup Houlahon
« on: Tuesday 28 October 08 20:00 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for a Thomas Houlahon in the 1871 Census.
I think that, (according to Rootschat Database) it is mispelt as Thomas Hewllin.
Can someone please look it up and give me the details.
He should be about 42 years old.
Thanks

Many thanks jacquelineve,

Thats the one,
I don't know if anyone else has noticed but Irish people tend to have given their county of origin  in the 1871 Census that they don't give in the earlier Census'

Hi Jackie

Yes it's a frustrating buisness isn't it.
Actually Houlahon isn't related as far as I know, but he was lodging with my
g grandfather as was Houlahon's sister who married a witness at my g grandads wedding 2 years before. (The witness was also godfather to my g grandad's first child).
This witness and the Houlahons came from Clare so I am hoping that my g grandad
also did.
It's a tenuous connection but it's worth trying. My g grandma was a Graven which is not a common name but most common in Mayo which isn't far away.
