I see 2 words in the last line - the 1st one staring with a Y or B and ending with an ORK or OCK and then a 2nd word starting with a capital which may be Margate although it is squished.

It's really hard to see.

Hello Pigarlic,

Could you do a scan of just the door area at 600 ppi , it might be easier to read.

Hi Jim and Karen.

I will rescan the door as you request Jim. Will have to set the scanner up for that.

Excellent find Karen  :D

That does indeed look like the word Approach  :)

Something has cropped up and ive got to pop out. I will get back to you on this latest find etc.

Can anyone date the truck?

If it actually reads Approach Rd. then it appears the diary was no longer in family hand by 1936.

if the Reg plate is legible, might be able to pin it down to a range of years .....

Of course looking at the photo again I realise it is R.J. Fasham on the truck and not G.J.

This must be the Reginald John.

In 1936 he is here:
Fasham Reginald John Flete Farm Flete Rd.  Margate

In the 1881 UK census I may have found him working as a milkman for a James Horn, also milkman and living with him at Thanet Cottage Drapers Road, Margate.  His birth year is abt. 1863.  The middle name isn't noted so I can't prove it is the same person but most probable.

Thanks all.

Yes Karen i think it is R J Fasham. You have done very well  :)

My grandad was born in Garlinge in 1912. I was thinking his 'friend' would be roughly the same age as him.

Here are a couple more scans of the door area at 600 ppi.
