John Cuthill and Elizabeth Donaldson
« on: Wednesday 29 October 08 18:20 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out when and where in Fife John Cuthill married Elizabeth Donaldson.
Elizabeth was born on 04/08/1801 at Cupar.
John 's occupation was a Carting Contractor.
Sadly that is all that I know about my distant relatives.
Any help would be gratefully received.

If you know of any children they had that were born after 1855, sometimes the marriage information is registered at the time of birth.

I am not sure if this will help, but one of my rellies married Agnes More Cuthill in 1929 in Kirkcaldy. Her parents were John Cuthill and Janet Speedie from Dysart/Kirkcaldy. This would indicate the Cuthill family may well come from this area, Good Hunting, Alex.

Another "not sure if this will help" kind of response but I have a James Cuthel b. 1830 Burntisland Fife to a John Cuthil and Margaret Russell.

John & Margaret have a total of 6 known children born between 1826 and 1837 in Fife.  James and at least 2 of his brothers (John and William) all head to Australia in 1854 and 1861 on the Monsoon and Trident respectively and all end up as farmers in the Camden, Mulgoa Forest area of New South Wales

Dear All,
I am hunting for information on my Grandfather & GGF, Cuthills from the Kirkcaldy area.
GGF - John Cuthill married to Mary Cunningham
GF - John Hill Cuthill B 1894 -  D 1929 married Mary Walker 2/8/1923 in Glasgow ;
daughter Mary Diamond Cuthill B14/3/1926
Brother  - Alexander Cuthill B 1901, married Daisy Drysdale B 1903, on 15/7/1927 in Kirkcaldy.
Daisy's parents were John Drysdale and Agnes Roy, other daughter Catherine Drysdale.
I can see many Cuthills in the area but have not been to establish the interrelationships. Having never met any Cuthill relatives I am determined to track some down! I would be very appreciative of any info that could clarify this situation. Regards, Colin Cooper, Sydney, NSW
