*COMPLETED*1759 Huntingdon family of Lincolnshire
« on: Friday 31 October 08 21:31 GMT (UK) »
Hello~
Anyone familiar with Parish registers, 1701-1912 from the Church of England: Parish of Halton-Holegate?
I am looking for information on the christening document for William Huntingdon b.29Nov1759.
He eventually migrated to Quebec and married abt.1800 and wife Margaret Travers was from New York so he might have port there but can't locate his migration or his parent info in Lincolnshire etc...
Surname changed from 'd' to a 't', unsure at what point but it was 't' on his children's baptism records and also on his 1853 death record (although the witness's names were written in by the record author) but one son's document used the 'd' so that lead me to believe I might have a lead here   :)

Sorry, I thought from your post on the Hunts board that you had found the entry on the IGI and that you knew his parents. If you check www.familysearch.org you'll find the IGI entry naming his parents as Antony and Mary

I wouldn't worry too much about ts and ds in Hunting*on. It would have been spelt however who was writing the entry thought it should have been spelt.

If you check www.familysearch.org you'll find the IGI entry naming his parents as Antony and Mary

Mary BAKER was a widow at their marriage in 1757.

Perhaps she was nee GRUMMET, having married Joseph BAKER at H-H in 1737.

Regarding spellings, there are thought to be six surviving signatures of William SHAKESPEARE.  All of them are different (including two on a single document, his will).  None of them use the spelling SHAKESPEARE.

Thanks all - got the IGI screen shot but that dead ends me again.  Can't go up can't go down ::)   How can I actually see the image or information like what what GeoffE wrote of?  I don't seem to pull up anything on these parents or William's migration info.  I'm doing something wrong, I've spent a week on this one alone  :-[

You will need to see the H-H register at Lincs Archives http://microsites.lincolnshire.gov.uk/Archives/ ...
they will supply copies http://microsites.lincolnshire.gov.uk/archives/section.asp?catId=6641

Or you can try your nearest LDS Family History Centre.

I see an LDS center in my state, if that doesn't pan out I downloaded request form for Lincolnshire.  Thank you for your assistance!   :)
