Catherine O'CONNOR, bn abt 1821, Bandon, Co. Cork
« on: Monday 03 November 08 18:01 GMT (UK) »
According to my gt grandmother's bible (which I have) her mother, Catherine
O'CONNOR was born in Bandon, Co. Cork, in about 1821.

Catherine married a British soldier, John WATSON, of the 2nd Btn, 1st
Regiment of Foot (The Royals).  Their first child, also John, was born in
January 1854 on the Greek island of Cephalonia, a military staging post for
the Crimea.

I have a copy of John's military record which tells me WHERE he
served between 1838 - 1859, but not WHEN.   But I do have a note that the
2nd Btn. was in Ireland, possibly in Bandon which was a garrison town at
that time, in 1847.

I am trying to track down a record of John & Catherine's marriage.  There is
no trace of a record in the British Army Chaplain's Returns of Overseas
Marriages apart from one Catherine O'CONNOR who was married on Corfu in
1850, but no John WATSON!

So I need advice as to where to look for not only Catherine's baptism but also a possible marriage record between herself & John in the Bandon/Cork.area.
