I am trying to expand my knowledge of my father's world war 2 service.
I know he was in the territorial army and was immediately called up at the outbreak of war.
As I understand it he served in the 250 field unit royal engineers. 1939 - 1946.
He went to France with the BEF and on return spent the best part of a year at Porton Down.
Was then destined for Singapore but a torpedo interupted the passage and so finished the war in what was then India and now Pakistan.
Any clues on finding info on the 250 Field Unit Royal Engineers welcomed particularly the name of any infantry regiment to which it may of been attached, plus any info on the role the Royal Engineers played at Porton Down most welcome.
