Rochford or Romford Marriage LOOK UP?

Hi

I'm having difficulty finding the marriage of my Maternal Great Grand Parents.

His name was George Francis Lane (apparently was an excommunicated Jew, so not sure if this is his real name)

Her name was Rose May Westguard (I think this is quite a rare name, might help)

They had 4 daughters,

Margaret, I'm not sure of her DOB but guessing at around 1934, as I have been told that there's at least 4 years between her and the next eldest.

Doris, born in the last quarter of 1938 in Rochford, Essex.

Brenda, my Grandmother, born 23rd September 1940 in Romford, Essex.

Elizabeth Anne, born in the first quarter of 1942 in Romford, Essex.

There is a family rumour that Rose May had another 4 children before these, out of wedlock, not sure of the truth behind it. But one of the first family was apparently also named Margaret and one was also named Doris???

Any help would be appreciated.

Where have you looked for the marriage. Have you been through the indexes, quarter by quarter?

 search for Westguard births 1900 to 1930 you will find some with the mother's maiden name of Westguard alll in Tonbridge.  

Freebmd is a work in progress done by volunteers, and is up to about the 1920s and at times 1930.  
For the others you will need to go to the FULL indexes of births, marriages and deaths (BMDs) to be found on ancestry, findmypast or in some libraries.  
There are four quarters for a year, with sometimes more than one page for each quarter.

It certainly appears from her daughters' birth entries that Westguard was her maiden name, rather than a previous married name.

Thanks for what you've done so far.

avm228 - yes thats her. I've done a bit more digging around on 'find my past' and found her birth and death record.

She was born 'Rosa May Westguard' on 21st June 1898 in Tunbridge Wells.

She died 'Rose May Lane' in July 1981 (I was 8 months old at the time and apparently she saw me only once before she died according to my mum). Her death was registered in Ipswich.

Finding her marriage to George is proving to be difficult. He was ex-communicated for marrying her. I wouldn't have thought George Francis Lane was his real name though, as alot of the Jews changed their names when they came over to England.

I was wondering if theres a way to find when he changed his name and what his name was before? I'm new to Geneology and really don't know where to start.

Do you know roughly when "George" came to this country?   Did he come as a child or perhaps was born here?

My avatar (Russian John) was shunned by his family for marrying "out".........trouble is they never got round to making it official.

I have no idea when I'm sorry, I know virtually nothing about him, I only actually found out his real name thismorning when I received my grandmothers birth certificate in the post. Before today I thought his name was Francis but it turns out he used to go by his middle name.

Do you know when George died?   Might get some pointers from his death certificate.
