Ashbury Lookup Please - PRESTON

Can SKS please do a lookup for the baptism of Mary PRESTON 09 Apr 1797 to see if there is any further information than that given on the Hugh Wallis website?  Parentage is given as John PRESTON/Mary WHEELER but their marriage is not recorded in the IGI and there does not appear to be a PRESTON presence in the village in 1841 or subsequently, so far as I can tell.

Mary has been on the 'back burner' for years, as my limited knowledge of the area deterred further research, believing that her quoted birthplaces conflicted [1851 Ashbury and 1861 Idstone] and boundary changes could make her pursuit difficult.  However, as I now know that the latter is a tything of the former, I've resurrected Mary for further research.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, please, Sue.

I believe Mary [recorded PRESON or PRESSON at marriage in Kingsclere 1825] to be my Gt.gt. grandmother.  On my Gt. grandmother's birth certificate she was recorded PRESTON and she appears in Kingsclere records until death.

I am aware of the baptisms and 3 infant mortalities on the Hugh Wallis website but the absence of any PRESTONs with Idstone/Ashbury origins in the census indexes on FindMyPast suggests most met untimely deaths.  Anything you can offer on these branches will be most gratefully received.

   Name spelt Prestone sometimes but mothers maiden name Wheeler

 Seems a large gap between William and Rachel and it only says parents John and Mary
 on Williams baptism

6 Oct 1816 Robert Preston son of John and Sarah ( Idstone)

   And found these 2 marriages names spelt different

30 Sep 1765 George Minchin to Martha Pressen (x)
6 Sep 1812 Robert Hughs to Elizabeth Preson (x)

Hugh Wallis has this baptism:

13 Aug 1785 Elizabeth Wheeler PRESTON

and this marriage:
15 Oct 1801 John JOURDAN/JORDIN and Mary WHEALER

As the PRESTON baptisms to John and Mary nee WHEELER finished in 1800 with Charles - an infant mortality - I wondered if either parent also succumbed.
