« on: Friday 07 November 08 13:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone help with David Hall born1863 and his wife Ellen Elizabeth?
They were in Dublin by 1911 but David was born in Cavan.

Thanks

Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so it looks like there won't be a birth certificate for David Hall. Do you have the marriage certificate? It should list his father's name and occupation as well as David's residence (townland) at the time of his marriage. The 1911 census should show how many years David and Ellen were married which gives a rough idea of when the marriage would have taken place.

Thanks for the guidelines.I don't have a marriage certificate and I had completely overlooked the information about the length of the marriage on the census form. I now see they had been married for twenty years so that puts the date at 1891 or thereabouts.
Thanks for pointing that out.

To order the marriage certificate:
www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm

Did you also see where it asks married women how many children/how many children living?

Many thanks. I didn't like to ask where to get the certificate from for fear of showing my ignorance!
Yes,I had seen about the number of children and that was why I was so surprised I had overlooked the other information.

Thanks again

Nice to hear from you.
The only information I have on my David Hall is from the1911 census of Dublin which states that he came from Co. Cavan but nothing more. I'm a bit stuck!

Sue

Do you have any other names, brothers/sisters etc??

Private message  if you like.....Due to an unfortunate incidence of someone using something I posted for his benefit with no reciprocation I'm not putting up a list of names, dates etc!
