Scott family of Motcombe, Dorset
« on: Monday 10 November 08 16:41 GMT (UK) »
William and Henry were the two sons of Robert Scott who hailed from Scotland and Jane Thompson from Motcombe, Dorset.  From what I can gather Robert was a travelling draper and about 15yrs older than Jane.

William was born around 1897 and Henry 1898.  What happened to the two boys?  Did they stay in the Dorset area and marry?  The last I have found is that in 1901 they were in Newbry Street, Gillingham.

Any information would be great.

Hi,

From FreeBMD births:

William Scott   DecQ 1896  and   Henry Scott    MarQ 1899    both registered in Shaftesbury.

Have you check www.cwgc.org to see if they died in WW1 ?

FreeBMD has some possible marriages for Scotts in Dorset.

Hi,

Have taken Nanny Jan's ideas on board and have found Henry Scott being in the Royal Berkshire Regiment, he died on the 17-11-1918 and is buried in the Terlincthun British Cemetry but I still cannot find William anywhere.

I've been through all the CWGC names for Scott but with nothing.

Anyone any ideas where to look next?
