WREXHAM Stansty & Abenbury Vechan
« on: Tuesday 11 November 08 06:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where Stansty was in relationship to Abenbury Vechan - both townships of the ancient parish of Wrexham.  I have a John Kendrick c1790 who stated on censuses he was born in Stansty.  I've found a baptism for a John Kendrick in 1787 Wrexham St. Giles, parents Thomas & Elizabeth, abode Abenbury Vechan and am wondering how far apart they were?

Any advice much appreciated!

Hi there,

They are on completely opposite sides of the town. Stansty is situated near the junction of the A483 Wrexham by- pass with the A541 Wrexham to Mold road. Best described as the area between Wrexham and Summerhill. North west of the town.

Abenbury, as it is now known, is situated near the A525, Wrexham to Marchwiel road between the edge of the Queens park estate and the village of Marchwiel and the Wrexham industrial estate. South east of the town.

As the crow flies, probably a distance of no more than a mile/mile and a half, at a guess.
