You say you want more information.  Specifically what?
What do you have?
Death, marriage, census records?

Hi Dave thank you for getting back to me  sorry I wasn't more specific I just wanted to know more about him IE: where he was born and who he married and what sort of Industry did a Printfield Labourer work in as I have just started doing my Scottish ancestors.

Do you have your grandparents births, deaths or marriage?  They should show the mother's name.

I've had a quick look on ScotlandsPeople for a death.
2 George Cathcarts that were born around the time you're looking for.

George Cathcart died in Springburn 1923 aged 68 GROS 644/06 0271
George Johnston Cathcart died Tradeston 1938 age 84 GROS 644/16 0108

If you can find the correct death record, it will also tell you his wifes name and would make a search of the census records easier.  Census records will confirm whether or not he was born in Ireland.

Do you know when he came to Scotland?

A printfield labourer is in the textile industry.

Hi Dave sorry delay in getting back to you.  I understand he had three sons born in Ireland then he had a son born 1885 and two daughters  in Scotland I think the Pollockshaws area  the name Mary Jane is somewhere at the back of my mind but that could have been my other ancestors spouse as they  came over from Ireland  about the same time and funnily enough he was a Printfield Labourer sorry to be a nuisance.

Not a nuisance at all. :)

I'm still a bit lost though. ???

Can you please post exactly what you know about your grandparents (BDMs?).

This will then take us on to looking at George in more detail.

I'm getting tired now so will come back to this tomorrow.
On Emerald Ancestors there is a marriage in 1875 George C to Mary.
That's in Antrim.
Maybe someone on the Irish boards will be willing to do a look up for you.

Speak again tomorrow (today!!  ;D)

PS - do you have that 4th sons birth, death or marriage record?  Any one of them will give you clues / evidence.

You're making me work...it's like pulling teeth!  ;D ;D ;D

Night for now.
