I hope this is the correct area for Thornhaugh.

I'm trying to trace the BAXTER family from Thornhaugh.

I have the latest census information.

I would like the earlier information if someone has it.

Here is the family in 1881

Sarah Baxter Wife Married 46 Stibbington, Huntingdon

as a Northants person who has one way or another covered most of the parishes in Northants I must say i am not aware of an area in Northants caled Thornhaugh.

I have checked the 1871 census and can find no Charles Baxter. Head of family, age 39, with family as listed anywhere in England.

Just rechecked this in view of this reply on the Northants board.

Thornhaugh is in Northants, but the returns are filied in Lincolnshire.  I am looking at the 1861 now and will post on the lincs posting when I have checked for you

PS I don't suppose you have a marriage reference number for them do you?

If you mean the GRO ref I'm afraid I got the marriage from the parish register so don't have it

Have you tried freebmd? I don't think it's very good for the 1850s & 60s though.

I too have struggled with the early years.
