Wildish family of Kent
« on: Thursday 13 November 08 11:41 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking at the decendents of James Wildish (b.1844 in Biddenden) and Jane Johnson. My line goes through their daughter Emily Jane (b1882 in Teynham).

I would like to k now if anyone here has a connection.

Also Interested in the decendents of Thomas Wildish b.1847 (son of Edward and Sarah Bongham) and his wife Amy Munday in particular their daughter Esther b.1881.

I also have an old newspaper cutting about a wedding of a Hilda Wildish and a Mr. R. Martin. Is this marriage in some way connected with the people mentioned above.

Any help here much appreciated.

Ignore this Andy... you already know this...I misread your posting

Hi Andy

Take a look at 1851 census first and  see what you make of this.. :)

1851c   HO 107/1639/602/21

Address Burling Cottage, Frant Road  Kent/Sussex

John Curd 33 1818 Head    Gardener    Buxted Sussex
Eliza Curd 33 c1818 Wife   Buxted Sussex
Caroline Curd 2 1849 daughter Buxted Sussex
William Curd 5 1846  son     Buxted Sussex
Elizabeth Wildish 9  1841 daughter   Buxted Sussex
James Wildish 7 1844   son  Buxted Sussex son

I have found extracted christening records for Elizabeth and James Wildish.

Elizabeth Wildish ch 17.10.1841 Buxted Sussex
James Wildish ch 25.6.1843 Buxted Sussex.

Parents William and Eliza Wildish.

It looks like William Wildish died and Eliza marries John Curd

Hi Andypandy

You can check for most marriages in this area up to recent times on the Kent Registration Services site http://extranet3.kent.gov.uk/sp/rois/marriagesearch.cfm

If both names have matching reference numbers they are a couple.  There is a marriage for a Hilda P WILDISH to a Robert C MARTIN 1937 but I only checked a couple of years - there could be more.

Hello Andy,
Looks like this could be Esthers Wedding as she was a servant in Cranbrook 1901 census,

                                   Dec 1909  Cranbrook 2A 1680.

               Some where to start from.

On our Fermor family tree we have a Joyce Wildish, b. abt 1748.  She was the daughter of Edward Wildish and Joyce Hogben of Sutton Valence, Kent and married John Farmer/Fermor at St John the Baptist Church, Harrietsham, Kent on 28 August 1769 in the presence of John Wildish and Alex Bottle.  Joyce Fermor (née Wildish) died 1823 at Harrietsham.

Possibly too early for your current research?
