Morrall Family of Plas Yolyn
« on: Tuesday 18 November 08 12:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello - I am trying to work out the connection between a Lloyd family from Shrewsbury and the above family.

I have a will of an Edward Lloyd of Shrewsbury d 1790 - amongst the beneficiaries are:

Cousin Charles Morrall of Chester surgeon
Sisters of Charles - Susan and Frances
Cousin Thomas Morhall - mercer of London
William son of Charles (god son of Edward Lloyd above).

I think that these are the Morrall family of Plas Yolyn and Kilhendre with Charles, Susan, Frances and Thomas being the children of William and Morrall and Susanna Bee. In order for the above Edward Lloyd and Charles Morrall to be cousins there has to be a marriage between my Lloyds and the Morrall family.

According to Burke's 'History of The Commoners of Great Britain and Ireland' Tobias married Margaret Lloyd, sister of Sir Edward Lloyd of Pengwern. I was wondering whether this Margaret Lloyd could have been misidentified. More likely there could be another connection altogether.

I am reasonably sure that I can identify the father, gfather and ggfather of the above Edward Lloyd and many of the family. There is an indication that there was a  Margaret Lloyd b abt 1728 (IGI Member record only), cousin of the above Edward.

Can anyone throw some light on this matter.

Tony Wardroper
My ggg grand father's names are Wardroper Reah Hillyard Thompson Sillick Druery Duxfield Heads Blacklock Richley Coulsen Riddle Scott Brown Dent - mostly from N.E.

A warm welcome to Rootschat. You'll notice this is a very old thread which attracted a zero response.

The original poster was chasing information about a Margaret Lloyd - see page 264
https://journals.library.wales/view/1386666/1413524/271#?xywh=-366%2C-46%2C2900%2C1861

Pages 253-270 cover the family.

It's possible your post will trigger an alert that the original poster will receive - no guarantee.

Hi
Just to answer the original question
The connection is through the Bee Family.
Elizabeth Bee presumably Susannah sister or daughter married George LLoyd 13.2.1726 at St Mary's Shrewsbury.

The Morrall children are all baptised at St Alkmond except Thomas
Thomas 24th Nov 1735 st Chads.
Elizabeth 15 Oct 1736-6.11.1736
Elizabeth 7 Dec 1737
Susanna 28 .3.1739
Frances 1.4.1740-14.6.1740
Frances 8/9/ Dec 1742
and Charles 29 Oct 1748

William was a Master Saddler taking on an apprentice Frederick Maddocks in 1746.
I'm guessinh his parenst were Thomas and Mary and he had a brother Richard.

What is it you after ?

Well I’m doing my family tree and I know that some of them in the 1800’s lived in the Whitchurch area, I not got that far back yet in my tree but I found this upon googling the surname Morrall with Whitchurch added at end, so it will be interesting to see if there is a connection there
