Thank you for that information it was very helpful - my family also didn't want to talk about my grandfather Patrick as he went to England and stayed there and had a second family but my trace is cold i only know he died in Fulham

Hi Sandra,
Augustine ( Gus) was my Grandfather, who settled in Dublin after serving in the Army until his retirement and then went on to Aer Lingus.
He had a first Son , whom sadly did not survive , named Patrick - possibly after his brother. Augustine has two surviving children - (*), 91, and (*) , late 70’s.
Interestingly, another cousin of (*) and (*) also left limerick only to settle in London ( St. John’s Wood )
I’d love to exchange information and photos if that appeals ?

Speak soon
Marc

Quote
My Grandad, Gus, was born Augustine KEYES on his Church record
and Augustine KEYS on his civil record. Interestingly the civil document
looks like Gustavius KEYS.

It was Gustavius, born on 3rd October 1899 at 2 Clare Street, Limerick.   MMN Nestor   #413  His mother registered the birth.

That’s correct, Gustavius is the Latin form of Augustine

I have a photo of the Keyes children with Father and Mother shortly before she died - I thing Gus was only 8 or so when his mother passed - shortly after this he went to live with his grandparents as he did not like the woman that  his father married.

Hi Marc
i have found out more about my grandfather in the last few days. None of my fathers family will even speak about him (Patrick)
Do you know who his father married after Margerat died. My Aunts told me that when they visited their house in Bishop St, she used to keep them at the door and not allow them in . This now makes sense as she wasnt their Grandmother, but they never told us that. i have two uncles alive only
(*) who lives in London aged 86 (moved there when he as 15) but didnt conact his father ever and (*) who lives in Limerick in his 70's . None of them ever spoke about their Fathers family.  i dont even have a photo of my grandfather to exchange with you nor do i know what he worked at , i only know he met another lady in london and had another family who we dont know about and died in Fulham  in 1990 Sandra.

John Keyes married Mary Jane O'Donnell in 1915.

No children recorded to this marriage.
