WILLIAM OVERTON Leominster
« on: Monday 01 December 08 20:02 GMT (UK) »
Looking for the 2nd marriage of my great grandfather William Overton about
1905, probably to an elizabeth . No record of marriage in Hereford or Leominster ,My grandmother always said she was a friend ,single and living in a nearby village. William was born in Bucknell Shrops in 1836 and Susannah Grafton his first wife was born in Humber Hereford so lots of villages but
HEREFORD and Leominster ruled out by register office searches
Also cannot find his death anywhere any suggestions welcome

Ok, think I've got my brain in gear now.

How sure are you that your G-Grandfather remarried?  I've just looked at the freebmd transcription stats, and they are near enough complete from 1890 to 1916.  So in theory, if William Overton remarried, his marriage will have been transcribed.

Hi Spidermonkey glad someone else`s brain gets confused by this Family search.!!!!!!
My gt grandmother died in  March 1901 and her youngest son Thomas emigrated to USA in 1905.
Before he went he attended His sister`s Susananna wedding in Leominster to an Evan Hudson Dec 1901
my grandmother`s wedding in Wales  Eliza Overton to James Heapey in Bedwelty Christmas day 1904
I can only find  a William Overtom wedding March 1902  to either an Emma
Jones or a Emily Jane Nicholas in Madele.y
As  I said the registrars searched all  Hereford and Leominster records
for me. I got his grandaughter`s letter out and he told  them his father remarried a very nice lady who was a friend of his parents from the next village
but he was born in Bucknell , lived in Leomister all his married life. None of his living family can recall  her name
Thomas`s  son is still alive and verifies¬ the next village¬statement
Thanks for looking   I can`t even find a death for him although he didn¬t attend my grandmothers second marriage in 1916.

THere is a death for a William Overton, in 1914 in Bedwelty (sept qtr 11a 77), so perhaps he moved to Bedwelty to be near your Grandmother?

re William  Overton after lots of red herrings and fase trails I discovered my gt gt grandfather NEVER remarried
I found him on 1911 Census as a widower living with  an old friend whose wife had also died, still in Leominster  the final step now will be his death cert
