Terrible trouble with Ireland!
« on: Thursday 04 December 08 22:42 GMT (UK) »
Im really struggling with this one - Im trying to track a John Patrick Taylor and only know he was born in 1881 in Ireland (he may have been an orphan). He married Charlotte Burrell from Greenwich, Kent in March 1913 and they had the following children: Leslie (1920), Charlotte (1913), Thomas (1916), Cyril (1924), Donald (1929). Perhaps someone could help with some information on this elusive man?

Do you have an exact date of birth for John Patrick Taylor? Is there a father's name and occupation listed on his marriage certificate?

Hi Madkitty,

Just came to sympathise with you.  I haven't been able to find my Grandmother's birth at all. Several different spelling for the same name don't help either!   ::)

I wish you all the luck in the world.

I have even had a scavenger hunt but no joy at all.

Have to keep hunting I guess. Have you tried tracking the children? That was how I found another one of mine, coming in at it sideways!

Welcome to Ireland.

If you try this site: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

and key in John Taylor, Event - Birth, 1881 +/-2, Region British Isles, Country Ireland you should get 16 hits. One of them is from 1881. Good luck.

Relatives are like buses...wait ages for one and 16 come along at once!! :D
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

IGI has some, not all, Irish births 1864-c1882.

He was quite mature on his marriage - do you think he was an orphan because there is no father on his marriage certificate?

If he was illegitimate there would be no father's name and occupation listed on the marriage certificate.

Hi,
yes I realise that - am just curious as to why there is a belief that he was an orphan. Wondered if it was because of the fact that there was no father on marriage certificate.
I know that this isn't helping much but as the info was a bit vague - I was trying to get clarification for all.
best wishes
