John and Elizabeth Dixon, Alnwick
« on: Saturday 06 December 08 18:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi again,

Having checked my original 'stuff' I think that Wozzle is probably correct in that John and Elizabeth are the likely parents of;

John Dixon bn 1804 Alnwick.

Does anyone recognise the names or have any info on who they were ?

Bit of a long shot I know but sometimes they come through.... :P

I have been back on Family Search but cannot find further links ???

Does anyone know whether you can buy Alnwick Parish Records on CD ?

Many thanks

Mary

No problem Mary.   Just makes it easier for others to follow!  I would have merged it but this is not one of my boards so I thought that putting the link was easiest.  It might be best if people reply on the original post then it will keep it all together?

Yes - sorry I don't know how to merge   ;D

Looking forward to posting again. Everyone has helped me soooo much in the past  :D

Unfortunately I have got down to pre-1837 now - so things are going to get harder no doubt  ???

As we don't know where you are, it is difficult to suggest your next step!
There are records for Alnwick in the Library, although I am not sure exactly what.[Alnwick library I mean!]
There are also parish records at Woodhorn, Ashington.

Mary,

Although many of Northumberland's church records (films of original registers)are held at Northumberland County Record Office, several records are also available elsewhere ( e.g. online on sites like GenUKI, familyseatch etc, libraries, etc.)

For example the records of Alnwick Parish from 1777-1890 are available on Familysearch site, within the Durham Bishop's Transcripts section.

If you access this site, on page 136 of the 1516 pages, you can see baptisms for the beginning of 1804... there is no sign of a Dixon baptism.

These are films of the lists of baptisms/marriages/burials from Alnwich Parish, that were periodically copied and forwarded to the Bishop of Durham.

" Parish" means Anglican/Church of England. What religion was your Dixon family ?
