Old school - Steel Cross, Crowborough

We live in the old Goldsmiths school at Steel Cross in the outskirts of Crowborough in East Sussex.  I'm sure this is the wrong place to ask but does anyone have any info on this building? We know in was built some time in the 19th century and closed just before the 2nd World War but we'd love to know what the inside of the building was like.  Did anyone here by chance know anyone who went to school in Steel Cross...it's a long shot I know but it's always worth asking isn't it.

I think my grandmother did she was living at Pales Gate in 1891 and was a 9 year old scholar.  I have no further information. Sorry.

Just looked and if you Google Goldsmiths school, Steel Cross, Crowborough a number of results may be of assistance/interest.  Some records are held in Brighton which might be worth pursuing.

It might also be worth contacting Crowborough town council to see if there is a local history group who may have helpful information/photos of Crowborough.

Also, try East Sussex records office to see if they have any records pertaining to the school and any collections of photos including Crowborough.

Final thought, the school was incorporated into and supported by Goldsmiths so maybe try them too.
