Theatre of War help
« on: Friday 12 December 08 09:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi

On the UK, Soldiers Died in the Great War, 1914-1919 records section it lists my great grandad's Theatre of War as being Brough-sic, does anyone have any ideas as to what this means?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

That doesn't mean much to me  :-\
Can you tell us your g-grandad's name and details.

If we can look up the SDGW entry, and compare it with CWGC and others then perhaps we can work it out.
Name interests: Boulton, Murrell, Lock, Croxton, Skinner, Blewett, Tonkin, Trathen.

Hellow Caroline,

It looks like Ancestry still have not corrected their database, which is seriously flawed to say the least.  >:(

I'm at work at the moment, but if no-one else has given you the proper version in the meantime, I'll look it up this evening. It should be "Home", if as you say, he died at Norfolk War Hospital.

Hi Caroline,

Ancestry have done a massive c*ck up with their SDGW - two of mine are listed as theatre of war Aldershot and Antwerp instead of F&F and Gallipoli!

I've looked it up on military genealogy instead, and the theatre of war is listed as 'Home'.

I really think ancestry should have removed the database until they fixed the errors!

Hello (spelt correctly  ::) ) again Caroline,

As Rachel said, the c*ck up is monumental and misleading a lot of people who use the A**y version.

I've checked all the other details and they are correct except the Theatre of War, which should be "Home".
